In what could prove to be a coup for Immokalee, at least one chef who joins the Immokalee Culinary Accelerator will be mentored by a French master for a year.
Christian Le Squer, a Michelin-rated chef who runs Le Cinq restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, has agreed to work with the Immokalee Culinary Accelerator to help up-and-coming chefs and to raise money and awareness for the area.
Le Squer will also develop a product, to be made in Immokalee and sold by the Culinary Accelerator, during his year as a mentor.
« It’s a dream for us, » said Marshall Goodman, president and CEO of the accelerator. « There are very, very few Michelin three-star chefs in the world today. He’s been picked by some of the best chefs in France, who voted him the top French chef. He is somebody who is running one of the world’s greatest restaurants in Paris. And he’s coming to Immokalee. »
Goodman and Jace Kentner, Collier County business and economic development director, met the chef while on Collier County’s annual trade delegation to France in September to promote business partnerships.
